1. Quartz sand filter material

Commonly used in general water treatment, it is widely used due to its pollution-free, low price, and low operating cost.

2. Activated carbon filter material


Activated carbon is a type of very small carbon particle with large micropores per unit area, commonly known as capillary pores. This type of capillary tube has strong adsorption capacity, and due to the large surface area of carbon particles, it comes into full contact with impurities in water. These impurities can be adsorbed in micropores, thereby removing colloids and other impurities from water. Activated carbon can also adsorb CL ions and ozone in water, and has a certain adsorption capacity for organic matter in water. It can significantly adsorb pigments in water. In the water treatment industry, we generally require an iodine value of over 700mg, and such activated carbon has strong adsorption capacity.

3. Smokeless coal


Anthracite is carefully selected from deep well minerals and has the highest percentage of carbon content. The anthracite filter material used for water treatment is manually classified, filtered, and washed to reduce irrelevant minerals and ash content, ensuring its suitability for water filtration. It has a good appearance luster, is in the form of polygonal particles, and has strong compressive and wear-resistant properties. Due to the good solid particle retention ability of anthracite filter material, it can reliably improve the ability to remove suspended particles. In addition, its low uniformity coefficient helps to accelerate the flow rate.

4. Manganese sand filter material


Manganese sand filter mainly relies on its own catalytic effect of manganese sand, and also gradually forms a layer of iron filter membrane on the surface of manganese sand filter as an active filter membrane during filtration, which can play a catalytic role. The newly generated iron oxide serves as the active filter membrane material and participates in the new catalytic iron removal process, so the iron removal process by the active filter membrane is an automatic catalytic process. 5. Fiber ball


The porosity of fiber balls in the fiber ball filter accounts for about 93% of the filter material layer. When the fiber ball filter is running, the water flows up and down. It not only has a large flux, but also increases the interception ability. It effectively removes suspended solids and sediment in water, and has a significant removal effect on organic matter, colloids, iron, manganese, etc. This product is used for fine filtration of oily wastewater in oil fields. It has a large filtration flux and fiber balls are not easy to stick to oil, so it is widely used in the petrochemical industry.
Overall, among these types of filter media, quartz sand has the advantages of high density, small particle size, and low cost. Anthracite has the characteristics of low density, strong pollutant interception ability, large particle size, and relatively affordable price. It is a filtering medium between quartz sand and activated carbon filter media. Activated carbon has a low density and strong odor and decolorization ability, but it is relatively expensive. Generally used in drinking water, in addition to the above effects, it can also improve the taste of water. Fiber ball filters are used for high flow, oil removal, and suspended solids removal in water treatment systems. 3、 Working principle
The adsorption capacity of activated carbon is related to factors such as water temperature and quality. The higher the water temperature, the stronger the adsorption capacity of activated carbon; If the water temperature exceeds 300C, the adsorption capacity reaches its limit and there is a possibility of gradually decreasing. When the water quality is acidic, the adsorption capacity of activated carbon for anionic substances is relatively weakened; When the water quality is alkaline, the adsorption capacity of activated carbon for cationic substances weakens. So the unstable pH of water quality can also affect the adsorption capacity of activated carbon.
The adsorption principle of activated carbon is to form an equilibrium surface concentration on its particle surface, and then adsorb organic impurities into the activated carbon particles. The adsorption effect is very high in the early stage of use. But over time, the adsorption capacity of activated carbon will weaken to varying degrees, and the adsorption effect will also decrease accordingly. So activated carbon should be cleaned or replaced regularly. The large water content of activated carbon particles also affects their adsorption capacity. Generally speaking, the smaller the activated carbon particles, the larger the filtration area. Therefore, powdered activated carbon has a large total area and the best adsorption effect. Powdered activated carbon is prone to flow with water and is difficult to control, so it is rarely used. Granular activated carbon is difficult to flow due to its particle size, and impurities such as organic matter in water are not easily blocked in the activated carbon filter layer. It has strong adsorption capacity and is easy to carry and replace.

When using a double-layer filter material filter for direct filtration, the turbidity of the incoming water is often kept below 60 milligrams per liter, and coagulant should be added before filtration. When used for sedimentation filtration, the influent turbidity is ≤ 15 milligrams per liter. Single layer filter media is only suitable for filtering sediment water with inlet turbidity ≥ 15 mg/L.
Mechanical filters have a simple structure and easy operation, making them a commonly used filter and widely used in small boiler water treatment processes. When the suspended solids content in the raw water is less than 30-50mg/L, it can be used as a pretreatment equipment for ion exchange softening (or desalination) process. It can also be used for coarse filtration treatment of process water with low water quality requirements
